Our CLDR myUMBC group has been a bit quiet in 2023, but we're coming back to life!
Starting today, we'll be regularly posting a "Community Leadership Resource" -- an article, podcast or video that offers new, thought-provoking insights about topics related to our learning and work.
If YOU have a resource you'd like to share, please send it to sjscott@umbc.edu. We're looking for work that pushes us to think about critical economic, political and social issues in deeper and different ways.
Today's resource is a new article by Evicted author Mathew Desmond on "Why Poverty Persists in America". In this article, Desmond makes sharp -- and sometimes surprising -- points about our historical and current approaches to poverty. He weaves narratives and statistics into a compelling account that helps us see beyond conventional explanations of poverty. He challenges us to see more, and do more.
We're looking forward to receiving your Community Leadership resources.
Thank you!
