Animal User Training and Orientation

IACUC required training for new students and staff

Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building (ILSB) : 401

This training is mandatory for all staff and students who need to be added to a protocol and require facility access. If you have not attended a previous session, it is strongly recommended that you participate in this one 
All new users—whether staff or students—working with laboratory animals (such as mice, rats, fish, birds, or reptiles) or using the animal facilities must attend a required facility orientation and tour. This training is also compulsory for all new Principal Investigators (PIs) and research personnel.

Topics to be covered include:

·       Training Requirements

·       Housing and Animal Care

·       Following Standard Operating procedures

·       Humane and Experimental Endpoints

·       Resources and Technical Capabilities

·       Personal protective equipment and common hazards

·       Facility Access

·       Animal Welfare Concern Reporting

If you are unable to attend, additional training sessions are scheduled for the following dates 

September 22nd Monday @11.00 am in ILSB 401/402

October 20th Monday @11.00 am in ILSB 401/402
November 17 th Monday @11.00 am in ILSB 401/402
December 15th Monday @11.00 am in ILSB 401/402
