This will be a one-hour online OR in person training presented by Technical Information Specialists from the National Agricultural Library's Animal Welfare Information Center (AWIC). The session would be beneficial for investigators as well as IACUC members and can serve as part of our training program.

Typically, the Alternatives Literature Search Training covers the following topics:
A brief overview of the Animal Welfare Act, primarily to provide context and background on the creation of AWIC as a service of the National Agricultural Library
Introduction to 3Rs databases and resources
Search syntax and strategies
How to conduct an alternatives literature search, including a short example using an animal use protocol and developing a search strategy based on the protocol, followed by synthesizing the results
Overview of AWIC products and services available to the public
