The Public Art Across Maryland Program promotes and supports the inclusion of art in the everyday experiences of Marylanders.
What is Public Art? It can be work of any kind in any media, indoors or outdoors, temporary or permanent, free and accessible, that engages the community who will experience the work. Through direct commissions, grants, technical assistance, and professional development we support those planning, making, and caring for art in public spaces across the state.
The Public Artist Roster is a vetted directory of artists interested in Artwork Commission projects in Maryland. Explore the 435 artists in the roster by clicking here. Use the search labels to sort artists by material, subject, and or find a public artist based in Maryland! The Public Artist Roster is currently closed until Summer 2025.
The Artwork Commissions program contracts artists to create artwork for new or renovated state buildings. Artists interested in being considered for Artwork Commissions should apply to the Maryland Public Artist Roster.
