Connecting with Nature, Reflecting on our Future!
"As we educate and become future technology creators, we must begin to question our own assumptions, challenge ourselves on our mindset, and become self-critical in how and why we do things the way we do.”[1]
In celebration of COEIT’s 30th Anniversary, Join the Engineering & Computing Education Program (ECEP) on Wednesday, February 23 from Noon – 1:30pm for an innovative opportunity to connect with Nature while deeply reflecting on the ways our work as technology creators is transforming how and why we live. Led in partnership with Nature Worx, we will take an intentional saunter on campus that will feature opportunities to connect with nature while contemplating our social responsibility as technology creators and educators. These opportunities will blend elements of mindfulness, meditation, five senses exploration and art.
Space is limited to the first 20 that sign-up. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend. A waitlist will be created. Please be sure you are physically able to participate and are wearing comfortable shoes and dressed appropriately for the weather. We will go out, rain or shine! We will meet by the pond in the center of campus promptly at Noon.
In preparation for the saunter, we ask that you read, The True Grand Challenge for Engineering: Self-Knowledge. For questions or additional information, contact Woodrow W. Winchester, III at wwwiii@umbc.edu
