Hey everyone!
We hope this message finds you well. Our sixth meeting will be this Wednesday (10/20) at 7 PM, in Public Policy (PUP) room 208 as always, with the caveat that the location can change depending on safety concerns. This week we planned the second formal debate on whether police should receive more oversight or more trust, however, as last week's meeting saw an impromptu discussion on policing in general and how to solve problems related to it, this debate's topic is plenty flexible once we've sat down in the room! We'll also have some discussion on future events people would like to see, such as potentially having an outdoor "change my mind"-style event!
In that same vein, today there will also be a rather small meeting with the College Republicans secretary, in the Commons' Fireside Lounge at 4 PM, to discuss the creation of flyers both for upcoming events and general flyers for our weekly meetings. Not many are coming, but feel free to stop by if you'd like to share your ideas!
Also, Fall Kickoff was last Saturday at Down's Park, and it was a rousing success! We heard from a lot of great speakers, including former Congressional Republican Nominee Kimberly Klacik, about how to be a more successful club and a more successful Party. Lastly, we wanted to make you aware of an upcoming event announced at Kickoff, a reading of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Masque of the Red Death" hosted by the Baltimore City GOP. Baltimore City Republican Central Committee Member William Hellmann will be doing the reading and relating its themes back to current events, with optional Happy Hour afterward and a tour of Westminster Hall Graveyard if time permits. The event is on October 26th, 2021, 6:30-7:30 PM, at the gravesite of Edgar Allen Poe, 515 W Fayette St, Baltimore, MD 21201, with a $10 ticket price. More details here:

As always, we encourage those who have not yet done so to follow our myUMBC page and to join our GroupMe (the latter is where we pick debate topics, and you too can have a say in future topics if you join!), since we don’t use Webex Teams much. Direct links are below:

That’s all from us — we hope to see you again soon!
