Media Bytes: Rest is Resistance
A Night of Reflection, Community & Creative Rest
Join us for a fun and reflective evening rooted in rest, dialogue, and community! We'll be watching one of Tricia Hersey's talks on rest as resistance and engaging in dialogue on how rest and collective care are tools for collective liberation. Come for a chance to reflect, chat with new friends, enjoy some snacks/refreshments, and decorate your own rest journal.
"To imagine a new world that centers liberation, rest must be our foundation to invent, restore, imagine, and build. Exhaustion will not save us" (Hersey, 2021). Inspired by one of Tricia Hersey's talks on rest as resistance, we'll engage in a dialogue to reflect on our own relationships with rest, how rest is deeply intertwined with social justice and public health issues, and how rest and collective care are tools for collective liberation. In a society that centers urgency, extractivism, white supremacy, and capitalism, rest allows us to resist, disrupt, make space, and reimagine.
Come for a chance to reflect, chat with new friends, enjoy some snacks/refreshments, and decorate your own rest journal!
