Dear Prospective VITA volunteer,
Please follow this link to a google form to register for training or let us know you want to get involved without a certification. Thank you for your interest in VITA@UMBC. We provide an important service to the Baltimore community and the more certified volunteers we have the more we can help others!
If you have questions, email us at VITA@UMBC.edu.
Despite the pandemic, VITA@UMBC will be moving forward with our sixth tax season! If you aren't familiar with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, we are a group of volunteers who prepare income tax returns for low income families. Volunteers learn how to prepare taxes and get certified by the IRS. We'll be operating virtually this tax season so everyone will be safe. Due to the economic challenges of 2020, we know that our clients will need our help even more than previous years. Please consider completing the IRS Tax Preparation certification and volunteering this spring. We need you!
Volunteers interested in earning IRS tax preparation certification have two options for training. The first option is the CASH Campaign of Maryland who offers training in early January. The second option is training offered by the UMBC VITA team the first week of the spring semester. All VITA@UMBC volunteers must attend an additional session to learn how to use Webex Meetings to interact with our clients. If you aren't interested in learning how to do taxes, we also need a few volunteers to help with administrative tasks.
