Dear Colleagues,
Each year, UMBC may submit up to three Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) proposals to the National Science Foundation. UMBC has a strong record of success with this award mechanism.
I'm writing to make sure you are aware of the upcoming workshop to discuss the characteristics of a successful MRI proposal. We'll review both the internal (UMBC) selection process and the NSF process. Please note the following:
- White papers are due Wednesday, October 11, 2017 to limited-submission@umbc.edu as detailed here.
- Please RSVP if you will come to the September 29nd workshop.
- Final proposals from UMBC's nominees are due to NSF by January 10, 2018.
- Proposals must be for a single piece of research equipment.
- UMBC must provide a 30% match and white papers will be prioritized in part based on any commitments made by campus units willing to provide matching funds.
Sincerely,
—
