Teaching About Asia, "Seeing and Reading East Asia: Approaches for the K-12 Classroom." Held at UMBC and coordinated by Dr. Julie Oakes, full-time lecturer in History and Asian Studies.

• Oct. 17 Reflections of Early Korean History and Culture: the Writings of Linda Sue Park (Dr. Kyung-Eun Yoon)
• Oct. 31 The Art and Material Culture of Japan at the Turn of the 2oth Century (Dr. Robert Mintz, at the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore)
• Nov. 14 Becoming Modern: Japan from Tokugawa to Meiji, 1600-1912 (Dr.
Constantine Vaporis)
• Nov. 21 China’s Turbulent Century: from Opium War to Civil War, 1840s-1940s (Dr. Julie Oakes)
• Dec. 5 The Rise of Modern Korea (Dr. Kyung-Eun Yoon)
