Join Visual Arts in welcoming our new IMDA MFA Grads!
Please join the Visual Arts Department in welcoming our new Intermedia and Digital Arts (IMDA) Graduate Students to UMBC. On Thursday, November 6th from 12:00-1:00 pm, we will host a fun and engaging round of micro-talks at the CADVC. Our new grads will give short presentations about their research and art practice. Stop by to say hello and meet the IMDA class of 2028!
Tima Aflitunov is a Tatar visual artist exploring human ontology and semiotic expression. Tima is interested in translating complex abstract concepts into simple visual language.
Elle Jones is a Baltimore-based intermedia artist with a conceptual focus on human experience and devotion. Her most recent work explores the infantilization of women. Elle holds a BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art and an MA from Towson University.
Selin (Sam) Buyukcengiz is an animator and a pupil of ecology, working to bind the concept of metamorphosis within these mediums in their practice. They aim to approach the topic from a specific migrant, queer and feminist lens.
Isabella Guerrero is a Baltimore based artist creating work exploring topics of feminism, sexuality, activism, the body as art, and grotesquery. Her practice consists of combining modern technology with classic alternative processes to create one-of-a-kind works with a contemporary perspective.
Josh C is a 33 year old Illustrator, Animator, and Screen Printer, born and raised in Maryland. He tends to draw crude, cartoonish characters using mostly ink and alcohol markers with touches of mixed media like paint or pastels.
