Dear UMBC Community,
We were delighted to learn that salary enhancements for University System of Maryland (USM) faculty and staff are included in Governor Hogan’s budget plan for FY 2022 and FY 2023. Early information about the Governor’s proposal can be found in this announcement, released by USM Chancellor Jay Perman on Thursday evening. USM institutions will develop individual plans for implementing the salary increases.
In announcing this welcome news, Chancellor Perman thanked the Governor saying, “Over two years of unrelenting challenges, our faculty and staff have worked incredibly hard to keep our communities safe, to keep our students learning, and to keep our campuses running smoothly. I’m in awe of their dedication to the people and missions we serve.”
We fully agree with the Chancellor and appreciate the Governor’s recognition of the vital role you play in the lives of our students and Maryland citizens. Additional information regarding implementation of the salary enhancements at UMBC will be available soon.
Thank you for all that you do.
President Freeman Hrabowski
