Dear Members of the UMBC Community,
We had the opportunity to speak yesterday with BGE CEO Calvin Butler, Jr. and share the frustration of our campus following multiple power outages. We explained the serious impact of nine outages over the past month, including disruption of research, teaching, administrative work, and the lives of students in residence halls and beyond.
We are pleased to let you know that Mr. Butler agrees that the situation is unacceptable, and he has established a high-level team that will work with Assistant Vice President for Facilities Management Lenn Caron to improve the reliability of service to the campus, beginning today.
We thank all members of the campus community who wrote to us about the unfortunate impact of the outages in their areas. Your feedback reinforced our case to BGE. We look forward to significant and timely progress and we will keep the campus community informed.
