IPU Public Gathering: Indigenous Allyship Panel
Learn how to be an ally from Professors & Alumi!
Thursday, November 20, 2025 · 5:30 - 7:30 PM
Don't know how to support Indigenous-led movements? Unsure how or why Indigenous autonomy overlaps with others? Whether you've had these questions before or are thinking of them now, let's take a seat and learn from the past!
The Indigenous Peoples' Union will be hosting a panel of Professors and Alumni to have a discussion surrounding both historical and contemporary Black & Indigenous liberation movements within the United States and beyond. Through our panelists diverse expertise and an open discussion we'll be emphasizing how to remain in solidarity with these movements. Our wonderful panelists will include:
- Autumn Powell - Afro Diné Geography PhD Student
- Dr. Mia Dawson - Geography & Environmental Systems
- Dr. Iris Blake - American Studies
- Dr. Conor Donnan - American Studies
We will try to make the slides available afterwards and will be offering a hybrid option for those who wish to attend virtually:
meet.google.com/pni-vovp-yyz. We will be meeting in Fine Arts 558 but if you are attending virtually, the talk will begin at 6PM!
Please come with an open mind, any questions, and any experience that you may have as we collectively learn how to better support one another! All are of course welcome and dinner will be provided!
FYI: If you aren't following our instagram, please do so as we post live updates there as well!
