Do you have a special object that you would like to preserve in digital form? Do you want to contribute to research into 3D scanning and modeling?
On April 7 and 8, the Imaging Research Center is holding public scanning sessions, using the Photogrammetry rig on the first floor of the ITE Building. Our rig uses 94 cameras to capture an object from every side and angle, all in one simultaneous shot. Bring your object -- as long as it is bigger than a basketball and smaller than a carry-on suitcases -- to the IRC and we will scan it while you wait. We will give you a copy of the scans, which you can then use to create a 3D model, suitable for use online or in 3D printing. Your scans will also form a dataset for ongoing IRC research.
