Wednesday, February 24, 2016 · 6 - 8 PM
To initiate awareness and discussion on the UMBC campus about the state of modern-day slavery, we will be watching a TED talk by Kevin Bales, Co-Founder of Free the Slaves (http://www.freetheslaves.net/). In addition, Jeanne Allert, the founder of The Samaritan Women, a Baltimore-based home for adult female survivors of domestic human trafficking, will be visiting to talk about the work that they do.
"Shine a Light on Slavery" a day created by the End It Movement (http://enditmovement.com/) to spread awareness about human trafficking. This year, Shine a Light on Slavery Day is Thursday, February 25th.
