Lambda Chi Alpha Fall Rush 2017
Rush week is a semesterly initiative intended to recruit undergraduate students of sterling character and high scholastic aptitude. Our events serve as a platform for brothers to meet potential candidates and to address any questions they may have about the fraternity. Students who carry a respectable GPA, are already heavily involved with university organizations, and demonstrate that they possess the maturity and resolve needed to excel academically while being in a social fraternity are considered for bids— the average GPA for our Fall 2016 class was slightly higher than a 3.7 and 100% of our brotherhood remains involved in university organizations other than Lambda.
At Lambda Chi Alpha, we believe the college experience includes balancing academic and extracurricular activities with an active social life. While the fraternity offers a multitude of academic, leadership, and philanthropic opportunities, the fraternity also presents a myriad of social events and networking opportunities. Over the course of the year, we host dozens of social events that give the brothers and students from neighboring schools a chance to mingle and unwind. For brothers, other social events include mixers with local sororities, formal date evenings, and invite only house events.
Lambda Chi Alpha has the highest cumulative GPA average among all social fraternities at UMBC. We were voted philanthropic chapter of the year during Greek Week 2016 for our commitment to service and we are the oldest social fraternity at UMBC as well as one of the oldest in the country.
As per UMBC's interfraternity council bylaws, students become eligible upon completion of a full semester (minimum 12 credits) at any postsecondary institution. At minimum, candidates who meet our chapter's character and GPA standards are considered. Candidates may then be evaluated based on members' experiences as well as references from sororities, professors, and alumni.
- Average chapter GPA above the all-mens average
- Philanthropic Chapter of the Year (Greek Week 2016)
- Oldest UMBC social fraternity

We're going to be buying a lot of balls and providing clubs at the Arundel Golf Park. Come meet the brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha and make an impression at our second of two open events. Rides will be provided. Meet in the Commons Info Center at 7:30 pm or contact a brother.
Wednesday (9/13): Alumni Bonfire (Invite Only)
Get to know the brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha over some S’mores and hotdogs around our fire pit as well as Lambdas from the generations who made this chapter what it is today, and learn about what more Lambda Chi Alpha has to offer beyond your college years.
Thursday (9/14): Poker & Cigars/Interviews (Invite Only)
We’re ordering pizza and wings to the house, so come dabble in some poker (amongst other games) with the brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha off campus at one of our houses.

This is the official page for rushing the Phi-Delta Zeta (UMBC) chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity for the Fall 2017 semester. Lambda Chi Alpha International Fraternity is the 4th largest men's general fraternity in North America with over 280,000 members and more than 200 active chapters (known as Zetas). Lambda Chi Alpha was founded in 1909 at Boston University. As part of its mission to help collegiate men reach their full potential, Lambda Chi Alpha has developed a program known as True Brother. In this program, Associate Members learn about some of the core values which we stand for, which are listed as follows:
Loyalty
Duty
Respect
Service and Stewardship
Honor
Integrity
Personal Courage
Come out to the events, meet the brothers, and learn what a True Brotherhood is all about. We were the first social fraternity at UMBC, and this being our thirty seventh year, we are also the longest lasting fraternity on campus. We were the first fraternity in the world to abolish hazing and pledges, which is a tradition we carry on today at UMBC with much pride. We 100% do not haze, and we mean it!!!
