Title: Traveling water waves with multi-valued height
Abstract: Traveling water waves have been studied for over two centuries now, usually with the assumption that the surface is a graph with respect to the horizontal coordinate. However, we know that some waves exist which violate this condition, especially Crapper waves. In work with Akers and Wright, we have reformulated the traveling wave problem to allow interfaces with multi-valued height. We have applied this framework both analytically and computationally, and will discuss these results including for water waves and interfacial waves, and with surface tension and higher-order hydroelastic effects.
