Title: Geometry of turbulent dissipation and the Navier-Stokes regularity problem
Speaker: Zoran Grujic, University of Virginia
Abstract: The goal of this lecture is to present a mathematical framework--based on the suitably defined 'scale of sparseness' of the regions of intense fluid activity--designed to transcribe computationally and experimentally observed spatial intermittency in turbulent flows into the form suitable for rigorous mathematical analysis of the possible singularity formation in the 3D Navier-Stokes equations. Both theorems and computational results/visualizations will be presented.
