Abstract: In 2019 the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services put forth Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America with a goal to dramatically reduce new HIV infections. Prevention strategies are often informed by mathematical models. We propose an in-host model of HIV, an ordinary differential equation (ODE) model, comprising both the acute and chronic stages of infection, that simulates the immune response of the viral infection, as well as the HIV viral load within the body. The model incorporates biologically derived parameters. This is an important first step towards developing a model with treatment and drug resistance
