Effective Spring 2017 the course Math 100: Introduction to Contemporary Mathematics is being renamed Math 120. The course's title, contents, and attributes remain the same.
You will note that the Spring 2017 Schedule of Classes reflects this change.
Rationale: Math 100 sometimes was incorrectly perceived as being the lowest in the hierarchy of courses available from the math department. But that's not so. Content-wise Math 100 was a higher-level course compared to Math 104 and Math 106. The renumbering of it to Math 120 helps to remove possible misunderstandings and confusion.
Math 120 continues to carry Mathematics GEP/GFR attributes as Math 100 did before it.

Students will be introduced to many topics from contemporary mathematics. These are especially of interest to students in the social and information sciences. Topics include networks and graphs, the traveling salesman problem, scheduling linear programming, social choice, voting systems game theory, fair division, patterns, tilings form, similarity and symmetry.
