ME S-STEM scholar, Mr. Lani McGuire, worked at North Carolina State University with the FREEDM Systems Center in the Laboratory for Packaging Research in Electronic Energy Systems (PRESS) this summer. He developed a system to automate the dispensing of certain materials on substrates in the lab from CAD files. This experience taught him how to conduct in a research environment by starting from background research and literature reviews. Mr. McGuire said that his mentor was great. His mentor explained things to expect in graduate school. It was an overall great REU experience for Mr. McGuire.
