The Sponsored Project Accountant or Senior Sponsored Project Accountant will read, review and interpret award documents to ensure award setup is complete in PeopleSoft, and provide notification to campus units of award information. The Sponsored Project Accountant or Senior Sponsored Project Accountant will be responsible for maintaining good cash flow through proper invoicing/payment and timely financial reporting of assigned sponsored awards.
UMBC offers competitive compensation. Salary: Sponsored Project Accountant $64,000 - $74,000/Senior Sponsored Project Accountant $72,000 - $81,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education Required:
- Sponsored Project Accountant - Bachelor's degree.
- Senior Sponsored Project Accountant - Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field.
Experience Required:
- Sponsored Project Accountant
- One year of experience with general accounting practices and procedures.
- Critical thinking skills and keen attention to detail.
- Advanced organizational skills demonstrated by the ability to prioritize tasks and work well under the pressure of deadlines.
- Excellent customer service, and communication skills.
- Additional experience required for Senior Sponsored Project Accountant
- Three years of full working knowledge of general accounting practices and procedures.
- Two years of experience in Research Administration Accounting or related Financial Accounting.
