The UMBC Law Review will run two articles in March: (1) Recent uptick in overturned precedents (Roe v. Wade, Affirmative Action, etc.) and (2) AI Law & Ethics.
The Law Review is seeking applicants for Managing Editors or Writers.
Deadline to apply is March 15th at 11:59 PM
Managing Editor Responsibilities:
- Scheduling group meetings throughout the month duration of the article.
- Ensuring all group members are on track, contributing to the article, and attending group meetings.
- Follow a consistent citation style for the article/make sure sources are cited (we will be adhering to the Bluebook citation style, but this will be discussed later. For now, just making sure all sources are cited).
- Ensure trusted sources are used for the article.
- See the article to finish (making sure page count is met, evidence is sufficient, the article is cohesive, etc.)
- Attend at least one virtual group meeting a week through the duration of the article.
- Contribute sufficiently to their group's article.
- Articles have a minimum page count of five pages, single space. We're seeking a team of 5-6 writers for each article, and each article will be lead by a Managing Editor. You will have plenty of support in your writing process, so don't let any of this scare you!
You will be notified around March 17th if you have been selected. Groups will start on their articles the week of March 18th. Articles will be due April 12th.
Please note that the UMBC Law Review is only open to undergraduate students at UMBC. The Review is open to students of all fields of study, you do not need to be a Political Science major or directly involved with Pre-Law to apply!
Please join the UMBC Pre-Law GroupMe if you haven't already to stay updated! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Mack (mwatkin1@umbc.edu).
