Student Writers Needed: Baltimore County Bar Association (BCBA) Pro Bono Spotlight
Get published, build your legal network, and make an impact!
Pre-law students of all majors are invited to contribute to The Advocate, the Baltimore County Bar Association’s (BCBA) monthly digital newsletter.
The Advocate features legal community news, court updates, developments in civil and criminal law, and upcoming events.
Students will work in teams of two to write a monthly Pro Bono Spotlight article featuring a legal services organization or pro bono provider serving Baltimore County.
Articles will introduce BCBA attorneys to opportunities to volunteer while highlighting organizations working to expand access to justice.
What Will You Do?
- Research a legal services or pro bono organization.
- Interview staff members and/or legal professionals.
- Write a professional article for publication in The Advocate.
- Collaborate with your teammate and meet project deadlines.
Why Participate?

- Gain exposure to public interest law and access-to-justice work.
- Connect with attorneys and legal services professionals.

- Help promote pro bono opportunities in Baltimore County.
How Will Teams Be Assigned?
- Students will indicate their availability and areas of interest on the Student Writer Interest Form.
- The Pre-Law Advisor will create student teams of two and assign publication months based on student availability, areas of interest to the extent possible, and the needs of the project.
- Each team will be responsible for one month during the academic year (October 2026 through May 2027).
- Completed articles will be due to the Pre-Law Advisor by the 15th of the assigned month.
