The Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities (MHHD or Office) within the Maryland Department of Health welcomes interns, volunteers, fellows, those seeking job shadowing experience, and other interested parties to participate in MHHD’s Health Equity Internship Program.
MHHD internship opportunities support MHHD’s goal of building the capacity of the public health workforce to effectively advance health equity. MHHD is committed to providing interns with a meaningful learning experience within our Office, as well as with our partners.
Internships are typically for three-month periods, for a minimum of 10 hours per week. Interns typically work on one to two main projects and assist on smaller project as they come up. Recent intern projects have included: grant management for the Minority Outreach and Technical Assistance (MOTA) project, planning for the Health Equity Conference, planning for COVID-19 vaccine distribution, assisting with a grant writing training series, and updating the Office’s data chart book.
