During the legislative session of the Maryland General Assembly (MGA), college students are given the opportunity to serve as legislative interns each year. Interested students apply and interview for placement with legislators, committees, caucuses, and delegations.
SESSION
The Maryland General Assembly meets annually for a period of 90 calendar days,
beginning the second Wednesday in January through early April. Internships are in-person at the Maryland General Assembly located in Annapolis and run from January 6 through April 11, 2025. The busiest days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY
Interested students must be at least 18 years of age and have graduated high school; they must be presently enrolled in a public or independent college or university located in Maryland with a 3.0 grade point average or higher; and they must have competency in composition. Students must earn credit for
the internship and be sponsored by a professor, advisor, or career services
representative. Students must be able to commit to at least two full days weekly for the duration of the internship.
Applications are now being accepted through October 15th for an internship with the Maryland General Assembly’s Legislative Intern Program. These internships are in-person and located at the Maryland General Assembly in Annapolis from January 6 through April 11, 2025.
