Reverse Career Fair
**Get YOUR Resume reviewed today**
The UMBC Career Center will be piloting a new event this spring, the Reverse Career Fair. We will be inviting student organizations to set up booths highlighting the accomplishments of their organization and offering you the opportunity to walk through and connect one-on-one with students. We expect up to 40 student organizations to participate. The theory behind the Reverse Career Fair is that because students will be speaking about topics they are familiar with and enthusiastic about (the actions of their organization), they will be more comfortable networking with individuals that approach them. This process will help students develop their professional networking skills, possibly fostering mentoring connections with UMBC alumni, and potentially secure an internship or full-time job offer.
The Career Center is looking forward to working with your student organization to make the Reverse Career Fair a success. To eliminate extra paperwork the day of the Fair, we are asking all members of registered student organizations to upload their resumes to UMBCworks.
Following the Fair, employers that attend will receive access to a Resume Book of student organization members that participated. If for any reason you do not want your resume included within the Resume Book, and already have an approved resume in UMBCworks, please let me know and your resume will not be included.
To upload your resume to UMBCworks, login to your UMBCworks account, click the icon for Documents, click Pending and choose Add New. Once your resume is added to UMBCworks, if it is not already approved, it will be necessary for you to come into the Career Center for a 15 minute drop-in resume review or a 30 minute resume review appointment with a Career Coordinator for approval.
Appointments to meet with a Career Center coordinator can be scheduled through UMBCworks by clicking on the “Schedule Appointment” icon or by calling the Career Center at 410-455-2216. Drop-ins are held Monday thru Friday 2:00pm – 4:00pm in the Career Center, as well as, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6pm – 8pm in the Library. On April 3, 2017, the Career Center will host a Resume Rescue day with drop-ins between 10am – 4pm.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
