Leaders by Choice Discussion Series: BreakingGround
UMBC Greeks as Agents of Social Change
Wednesday, October 3, 2012 · 8 - 9:30 PM
Greek Leaders!
By now you've probably stumbled upon BreakingGround, UMBC's "new higher education movement toward innovative, energetic campus and community engagement." But... what is it really and why does higher education throughout the Nation have it's eye on UMBC as it leads this innovative initiative in civic agency?
David Hoffman, UMBC's Assistant Director of Student Life for Civic Agency, will be leading a group discussion which Digs in to BreakingGround and explores the potential of this movement from the perspective of our Greek Community.
Did you know....
- There are multiple UMBC grants for up to $1,000 which could very easily go towards the implementation of your chapter's next service project.
- The immensity of BreakingGround's potential impact in higher education has sparked discussion at multiple National events including a forum at the White House earlier this year.
This is your chapter's chance to Gain University Support by taking action through BreakingGround as agents of social change on campus and in the local community.
WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM THIS GROUP DISCUSSION? To name a few:
- Officers involved with programming service projects or events
- Members inspired by social change or concerned about our community's campus image
- Anyone generally curious about BreakingGround
- Future Presidents
