Come Learn About Re-Envisioning General Education at UMBC
Town Hall for Faculty, Students, and Staff
The UMBC community (students, staff, and faculty) is invited to attend an in-person town hall to learn about UMBC’s effort to re-envision its general education program. Please sign up to attend!
We will present Provost van Dulmen’s charge, provide an overview of the 2026 Provost Teaching and Learning Symposium outcomes, and learn from a faculty colleague who taught in a university outside the United States about the value of general education as a uniquely American aspect of higher education.
This town hall will be facilitated by Karin Oen-Lee, Assistant Professor of Visual Arts, Susan
McDonough, Associate Professor of History and Peggy Re, Associate Provost for Academic
Affairs and Professor of Visual Arts on behalf of the Re-Envisioning General Education Faculty Core Committee.
