Facilities Accessibility Project Discussion
Want to know more about what's happening with accessibility and inclusion on campus for people with disabilities? Facilities Management and the Office of Accessibility and Disability Services are hosting a review of recent, current and potential construction projects that enhance accessibility, improve the physical environment of UMBC and benefit the entire UMBC community. Your ideas, suggestions and feedback will inform the process for UMBC's continued participation with the Access Maryland Program.
Please RSVP below for an accurate headcount. ASL interpretation will be provided. Individuals with disabilities requesting accommodation should contact the organizer, slazar@umbc.edu at least one week prior to the event. In all situations, a good faith effort (up until the time of the event) will be made to provide reasonable accommodation. If you have any remaining questions or concerns contact Celso Guitian in Planning and Construction Services via cguitian@umbc.edu / 410-455-5578 or Stephanie Lazarus, ADA/Section 504 Coordinator via slazar@umbc.edu / 410-455-5745 .
As a quick reminder, students, faculty, staff and visitors with disabilities are supported by Student Disability Services and/or the Accessibility Manager upon their request through Accessibility & Disability Services, though all campus members have a role in the co-creation of a welcoming and inclusive UMBC community. The Campus Map with Accessible Paths is a resource for physically navigating campus. Accessibility concerns may be reported online by campus members, though Facilities-based situations should be called in to Work Control (410-455-2550) first to inform their staff.
