Making Art & Music with Adaptive & Assistive Tech
A Mashup with UMBC Mechanical Engineering Capstone Projects
Tuesday, October 13, 2020 · 11 AM - 12:15 PM
Volunteers for Medical Engineering (VME) have been a long-term partner of UMBC's, specifically with the Mechanical Engineering Department. Many capstone teams take on a VME challenge to design and build devices to empower individuals with disabilities. Learn more:here: https://imagemd.org/services/medical-engineering/ .
Next Tuesday (Oct 13) @ 11am, VME is hosting an "Art & Music" Zoom Event together with Towson University's Occupational Therapy Department. This free Zoom Event will feature several devices created by UMBC Capstone Teams and UMBC Mechanical Engineering alumni, and is an excellent way to honor the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disability Act, as well as celebrating 100 years of vocational rehabilitation.
A Fascinating Discussion:
Musical instruments, sculpting devices, make-up applications, iPad art solutions, plus, a video featuring a customized stationary bike with music playlist! Custom solutions by VME engineers, student engineers, & medical professionals. Get inspired to be creative! Learn how you can help someone with a disability obtain a device, so they too, can tap into their passion and/or pursue a career in the arts. Some commercial products, too! Share the experience with a colleague or friend!
