Accessibility Halloween Trick or Treat Walk meet @ MP 212
Wayfinding, Skywalks and more, oh my!
Friday, October 29, 2021 · 12 - 1 PM
Navigating UMBC's campus-on-a-hill as a person with a disability brings out overt and sometimes more subtle features of its accessible design. Join us to learn more!
What are the treats? We have many, including a Skywalk and several upgrades that happened while we were remote.
What is tricky? Learn more about how work with situations, whether it's contacting Work Control for a repair (410-455-2550), reporting an accessibility concern, or working with campus partners to support inclusion. Accessibility is everyone's responsibility, and feedback to responsible departments is essential for response and improvement.
Due to the weather, we will meet indoors in the reception area of ADS, Math/Psychology 212, and explore interior routes, including the skywalk, for staying out of the weather while getting between buildings without using stairs, and seeing the new elevators in Sondheim, Fine Arts, and the elevator-upgrade in progress within Biology's Schwartz Hall.
NEXT TIME - We will meet outdoors at the Sondheim Statue (he is offering you his seat, what an ally!) between the Sondheim and Math Psych Buildings on the Lower Academic Row. The tour is limited to a small group and includes indoor spaces with social distancing so bring your most excellent COVID mask - work it into a costume! Our free food is trick or treat candy.
Can't make the day or time? More tours are planned. Have a (small) group? Email us to set up a day and time that works for the occasion.
