Disability Awareness Month Reminder: Join the UMBC Sunflower Program! 🌻
Show your support for hidden disabilities!
As we continue to celebrate, learn, and uplift disability identity this Disability Awareness Month, we invite the UMBC community to join the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program!
Originating in the United Kingdom, the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower movement has become a symbol of support and understanding for people with non-visible disabilities.
The Sunflower is a discreet way for individuals to communicate that they may need additional patience, understanding, or support. By participating, you can help make UMBC a more welcoming and inclusive campus.
As we reflect on World Mental Health Day, observed on October 10, we’re also reminded that some challenges, including mental health conditions, may not be immediately visible. Small acts of kindness, patience, and understanding can make a meaningful difference.
How to Participate in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Training
Join our training module on Blackboard to learn more about supporting individuals with hidden disabilities.
- Follow the group:Â UMBC Sunflower Program
