The Sogdians at the Heart of the Ancient Silk Road

Please join us for a lecture by Dr. Zachary Silvia, "The Sogdians at the Heart of the Ancient Silk Road: New Archaeological Discoveries from Western Uzbekistan."

This lecture highlights the critical importance of ancient Sogdiana at the end of the first millennium BCE in facilitating interactions between the Hellenistic world and the Qin/Han dynasties by exploring aspects of early Sogdian identity that anticipate their later role as power merchants of the Silk Road.

This event will take place in PAHB 441 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
