Hands-On History: Student Research with the Spiro Collection
The Council introduces an interactive artifact table
Tuesday, October 22, 2013 · 11 AM - 3 PM
The Spiro Collection has been donated to UMBC's Ancient Studies program by Dr. Marie Spiro. It is a diverse archaeological collection that includes mosaics, ceramics, glass, and other artifacts from Greek, Roman, Byzatine, and Ottoman time periods. This collection is a valuable resource for UMBC students looking for practical experience working with ancient artifacts, especially those considering careers in archaeology or museum studies. The Ancient Studies Council will be hosting an interactive artifact table in an effort to share the Spiro Collection with the UMBC community! Stop by our table in the Commons to see the collection for yourself, check out current research on the collection by UMBC students, and learn about how you can work with the collection next semester! |
