Homecoming is right around the corner, with events over the next two weekends, October 8 - 14, 2023. Don't forget to register at homecoming.umbc.edu. While many events are free and open to everyone, some events are ticketed and require advanced registration. And we have a great lineup for you!
Highlighted Events:
Women's Soccer vs. Vermont
Sunday, October 8 from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Retriever Soccer Park
Kick off Homecoming 2023 at Retriever Soccer Park cheering on the UMBC Women's Soccer team as they take on the University of Vermont Catamounts at 2 p.m.
Taste of Maryland - Almost Sold Out
Sunday, October 8 from 4 - 6:30 p.m. at the Retriever Soccer Park
Join us for a Maryland-themed dinner event featuring steamed crabs, pit beef, Smith Island cake, crab dip, and so much more. Receive a complimentary ticket to watch the women's soccer game with your Taste of Maryland ticket.
Ticket Prices:
- $45 per person (does not include crabs)
- $25 for children 17 and under (does not include crabs)
- $65 per person (includes crabs) for all ages.
Staff and Faculty Social
Wednesday, October 11 from 4 - 6 p.m. in the Skylight Room
The only staff and faculty exclusive homecoming event!
Come socialize with some colleagues and enjoy some tasty appetizers. Wine and beer will be available for purchase.
Please RSVP for the social via myUMBC so we have an accurate count for food!
Retriever 5k Dawg Chase and Fun Run
Saturday, October 14 from 8:30 - 10 a.m. in the Library Plaza
Whether you're in it for some friendly competition or would rather stick with a group, this event's emphasis is on camaraderie, bringing together all paces and styles. The 5k and 1-mile routes both start and end at the Albin O. Kuhn Library. The 1-mile route will be leisurely and casually paced (pets and families encouraged).
Entry Fee: $20 for individuals or $50 for a family pack option (two adults and any number of children). Students are free.
Carnival
Saturday, October 14 from 12 - 10 p.m. on Erickson Field
Carnival rides, petting zoo, games, and food trucks, oh my!
Bring your friends and family to the Homecoming Carnival for a day of fun. $10 wristbands can be purchased online or on-site for unlimited rides. Kids under 5 are free!
GRIT-X
Saturday, October 14 from 2 - 4 p.m. in the Fine Arts Recital Hall
Back by popular demand, we invite you to listen and learn as some of UMBC's most intriguing faculty and alumni minds enlighten us. After the talks, enjoy a post-event reception in the lobby with featured speakers.

Men's Soccer vs. New Hampshire
Saturday, October 14 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Retriever Soccer Park
Join Retriever Nation at 7 p.m. as we cheer on the UMBC men's soccer team as they take on the University of New Hampshire Wildcats under the lights at Retriever Soccer Park!
