Dear Colleagues,
With the return of cold weather and the arrival of a winter break for many at UMBC, we in Facilities Management would like to ask for your help in mitigating the risk of facilities damage. Please take the steps below to help keep buildings operating efficiently and their interiors free from damage caused by water, wind, or cold.
- Close and lock all exterior windows. If a window does not function properly, please submit a work order request with Facilities Management so that it may be repaired.
- Close and make sure all exterior doors latch shut. It is unsafe to leave exterior doors open for any length of time. If an exterior door does not function properly, please submit a work order request to have it repaired.
- Please use work order requests to report any unusual conditions, such as stained ceiling tiles or other signs of water damage, unusual odors, or unusual mechanical noises from within the ceilings or walls. A small issue now could become a much larger one over the break if not addressed.
Thank you for your attention to these simple but important proactive steps. Your help is greatly appreciated.
