Dear UMBC Community,
Last fall, the State of Maryland’s Employee Benefits Division (EBD) announced that CVS Caremark would be replaced by a new pharmacy benefits manager, MedImpact, effective January 1, 2025. New cards and information were sent to enrollees in December.
The Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management (HRSTM) team is hearing from members of the community that there is some confusion about the transition to the new pharmacy vendor. EBD, the plan administrator for our health benefits, including prescription drug coverage, is meeting daily with MedImpact to address the inquiries, and our team is working closely with the University System of Maryland (USM) to help connect you to answers.
We invite you to visit our website at any time for the latest updates from USM or for next steps on who to contact for more information.
HRSTM will continue to monitor the situation and work closely with the State Employee Benefits Division and USM to address and advocate for our employees’ concerns. Further updates will be provided on the HR website as they become available.
We apologize for any inconvenience the change in the pharmacy benefits vendor might have caused for you and your family. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Sincerely,
Lynne Adams
Chief Human Resources Officer and Associate Vice President
