Revisions to the 2026–2027 faculty appointment dates

Dear Colleagues,

We are writing to inform you of an update to your 2026–2027 faculty appointment dates resulting from a revision to the Spring 2027 academic calendar. 

The Spring 2027 schedule has been revised as follows:

• First Day of Classes: Monday, January 25

• Last Day of Classes: Friday, May 7

• Reading Day: Monday, May 10

• Final Exams: Tuesday, May 11 – Monday, May 17

• Graduate Commencement: Tuesday, May 18

• Undergraduate Commencement: Wednesday, May 19

Because 9-month faculty appointment dates are aligned with the academic calendar, it is necessary to adjust the contract period for faculty appointments.

The revised faculty contract dates are now:

Thursday, August 20, 2026 - Wednesday, May 19, 2027

This change reflects the revised academic calendar and ensures that faculty appointments continue to align with the instructional period and commencement schedule. Aside from these revised dates, there are no changes to the terms and conditions of your appointment. Your nine-month academic year compensation will remain unchanged.

Your deans and department chairs have been notified of this change and will work to ensure that college and departmental meetings, events, and other pre-scheduled activities are adjusted, as needed, to fall within the revised contract period.
