Active Assailant Awareness Training
Lean simple strategies to escape and survive attacks
Incidents of gun violence continue throughout the country, on college campuses, and at nearby universities in Maryland. Join us to learn about actions you can take to help escape and survive an attack on or off campus. This training will explain simple survival strategies, give you a better understanding of what RUN-HIDE-FIGHT really means for you, and help you effectively communicate these actions to others.
This training is open to all UMBC students, faculty, and staff as well as members of UMBC's affiliate locations. Our Emergency Manager, John Schaible, will facilitate training and a member of the UMBC Police Department will be available to help answer questions.
Additional resources can be found at the link below. UMBC Police recommend printing the attached survivor response guide for your office. This guide provides helpful reminders of what to do during an actual emergency.
Warning: Though training DOES NOT include any graphic content, the subject matter does concern descriptions and imagery of gun violence and is meant for informational training purposes only.
Active Assailant Awareness Training will be a recurring event. If you are unable to attend this time, watch for future announcements.
