Message from UMBC Police

Dear University Community,

This evening, UMBC Police and Baltimore County Police responded to a 911 call for a possible shooting that occurred at Sherman Hall. Upon arrival, officers discovered there was no shooting or weapons involved. However, there was a person experiencing a mental health crisis. This person created a loud bang by running through a closed door. This person was immediately taken into custody by responding officers, and there is no threat to campus. 

Anyone impacted by this incident is encouraged to reach out to Retriever Integrated Health in the Center for Well-Being for additional resources.
