Inmates involved in urban agriculture behind prison walls at the Maryland Transction Center donated close to 100 lbs of organic fresh vegetables that were grown in their own greenhouse. The project has been a venture between Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services and UMBC. The vegetables donated included fresh spinach, butter crunch lettuce, monster kale, curly kale, cabbage and red salad blend. The donation was to the Helping Up Mission which is an agency that provides programs for homeless veterans and other homeless men in need of food, shelter, and addiction recovery.
