The 8th Anual Korenman Lecture

Immigrant rights activist María Gabriela "Gaby" Pacheco

Originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, Ms. Pacheco moved with her family to the Miami area at the age of 8. During her high school years, she became involved in efforts to shed light in the social injustices faced by undocumented immigrants in the U.S. She has gained national recognition for her courageous advocacy of the DREAM Act and passage of comprehensive immigration reform. She currently serves as the Program Director of the Dream US, a national organization that provides higher education fellowships to undocumented immigrants.

This event is presented by the Department of Gender + Women's Studies. The Language, Literacy and Culture Doctoral Program is one of the co-sponsors.
