The Brooklyn/Curtis Bay and Sparrows Point areas
Tuesday, April 5, 2016 · 6 - 8 PM
Off Campus : Baltimore Museum of Industry
The “Mapping Dialogues” project focuses on the history and culture of two industrial neighborhoods in Baltimore: Baybrook and the Sparrows Point Steel Mill areas. The project uses maps as starting points for discussions on the past, present, and future of industrial space.
This Baltimore Museum of Industry (April 5th) event is the culminating mapping dialogue, presenting information from community gatherings in each of the two communities, and fostering discussions around issues of deindustrialization and the future.
At the previous events, community members interacted with large maps, created their own, and engaged in conversations about their stories and memories, as well as about the social and economic issues of how neighborhoods change when industry declines.
