Girls on a Dirt Pile
A new play by Susan McCully; directed by Eve Muson
UMBC Theatre presents Girls on a Dirt Pile, a provocative premiere that tackles events ripped-from-the-headlines.
The myth of Demeter and Persephone is a frame on which McCully hangs the tough questions: what happens to all the girls violated by #metoo villains? Can they rise up against their oppressors? Are we doomed to repeat the sins of misogyny, or is liberation and parity possible? Equal parts low comedy and dystopian drama, McCully sends-up patriarchy with her trademark irony and wit.
Content Warning: This play contains allusions to sexual violence, discussions of violence, and involves choreographed depictions of both.
