Every year NCBS hosts a nationwide student essay contest. Graduate and undergraduate students from all over participate in this event. The winners are recognized and honored at the annual Student Luncheon, which is held during the conference. If you or others are interested in submitting an essay for the Student Essay Contest, please do so by Friday December 6, 2013.

ESSAY GUIDELINES:
Essays should focus on any aspects of the Africana experience, i.e. art, education, history, literature, politics, psychology, social issues, and policy issues.
Contact information on Cover pageONLY! The essay must be typed in MicroSoft Word format, 12-18 pages in length, double-spaced with one inch margins-left to right and -top to bottom.
Students are asked to document sources by with either MLA or the APA style guide.
Submissions must be mailed to the address below. Faxed or electronic essays are not accepted.
Cover sheet must include: your name, mailing address, telephone number, email address, name of faculty advisor, name of the college you attend, and your class status (i.e., freshman, sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student).
