The Lumpkin Society meetings are a safe place for CBEE graduate students to meet. Exclusive to CBEE graduate students, activities fulfill both social and academic needs. They are an opportunity to socialize, discuss research, departmental activities, and connect with student leaders. Food and drink are generously provided by the department and each meeting will have a theme, usually in the format of a presentation and discussion of a research topic lead by one of the members.
I am excited to see everyone join, and participate in our interesting conversations about anything from the research you are doing to any niche scientific interests you have. All graduate students are welcome and encouraged to come. If you have food allergies, dietary restrictions, or other concerns about attending, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate.
Just a reminder that the Lumpkin Society is exclusive to CBEE graduate students ONLY as we all need a safe place to socialize and decompress together :)
The Lumpkin Society is named for the late Professor Lumpkin, whose deep commitment and concern for students both in and outside of the classroom and for inspiring women and minorities to pursue studies in science and engineering inspires the department and graduate student community.
