SCUDEM IV 2019 - SIMIODE Challenge Using Differential Equation Modeling is an international team challenge event with faculty development program. SCUDEM IV 2019 is open to high school and undergraduate students.
SCUDEM IV 2019 is sponsored by SIMIODE Systemic Initiative for Modeling Investigations and Opportunities with Differential Equations, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, devoted to supporting the use of modeling to motivate and teach differential equations. SIMIODE is funded by the United States’ National Science Foundation Division of Undergraduate Education.
This event took place just this past week, involving a week-long "hackathon." It culminated with teams of three students submitting an executive summary of their work, working on a new question with the model they proposed and presenting the model and new scenario to a panel of judges at Bowie State.
Thank you to Dr. Frey for sharing the competition and keeping the ball running.
Thank you to Dr. Raikar for volunteering to be the coach that attended the competition with the students this past Saturday. This past Friday (11/8), Dr. Das, Dr. Frey, Dr. Szeto, Dr. Raikar, and Dr. Castellanos were able to get a preview from the students, thank you for sharing your time!
We cannot but be proud of our students for taking on the challenge and participating and of course - then bringing back not a win but three!
