Chilled Water System Outage on Campus
Dear Members of the UMBC Community,
UMBC's Central Plant has experienced an electrical failure with the equipment powering the chilled water system, and Facilities Management is working to restore power as quickly as possible.
As a result, the academic core buildings, including the Administration Building and Erickson Hall, are experiencing rising temperatures. Therefore, faculty, staff, and students associated with these buildings may leave at 2 p.m., with administrative leave applicable.
The following buildings on campus are not affected and should continue normal operations: All Residential Life buildings (except Erickson Hall), True Grits, UMBC Event Center, TRC, Y-preschool, and Facilities Management.
Prior to leaving, please turn off all office equipment, such as computers and printers, and research equipment, as appropriate. An update will be sent when chilled water service is restored.
Lenn Caron, Assistant Vice President, Facilities Management
